Into The West - Annie Lennox
Lay down,
your sweet and weary head.
Night is falling.
You have come to journey’s end.
Sleep now,and dream
of ones who came before.
They are calling,
from across the distant shore.
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see.
All of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms,
you’re only sleeping.
What can you see,
on the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea,
a pale moon rises.
The ships have come,
to carry you home.
And all will turn,
to silver glass.
A light on the water.
All souls pass.
Hope fades,
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.
Don’t say,
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling.

For a week now, I've been wanting a good excuse to illustrate this scene from the song Into the West by Annie Lennox (recorded for the LotR trilogy)... and I finally found one.
=Mearu has inspired us (or, at least, she's inspired me a LOT) so much that I wanted to draw her yet another gift... and then I realised I could slot it in with my wish to draw the scene based on the line from Into the West...
So I did.
But the only part I like about this picture is the light near the distant mountains...everything else looks horrible. I wanted to incorporate Celtic things in the picture, so I found those brushes... Unfortunately I've forgotten who they're by... but they aren't mine. I claim no credit for them whatsoever! Those corner knots, I'm talking about. I think this picture turned out better than those projects (Desert Paradise, Serenity and Doomsday)... and this definitely wasn't a project!
I put seagulls into the picture. How horrible. Greedy, big Australian seagulls at that. I just did random blobs of white and black and then I realised they looked like seagulls. Definitely not a good choice for a picture like this... Anyway. I'll stop my random ramble...
